I have been interested building/carpentry since junior high and high school when I started making those little take home projects. I developed further interest a few years later when my wife and I purchased our first home. As with many first homes, it needed some remodeling. I spent many nights and weekends working on it and developing my skills. Friends and family noticed that I had a knack for construction and so Dockham’s Carpentry was born. I started working on several other homes in our neighborhood and surrounding area’s. By 1988 I had developed quite a clientele and decided to start a full time building and remodeling company. Within 5 years projects and business grew, we added carpenters and decided to change our name to Dockham Builders.
Although we do build new homes, our forte is remodeling and adding on to existing homes. Every remodel is different and requires a lot of attention to detail to ensure that the expectations of the client are met or exceeded. I enjoy the challenge that comes along with the remodeling industry. There are not a lot of easy solutions and it requires a lot of out of the box thinking.
It’s always been my goal to treat client’s homes like they are mine, working with them every step of the way and educating them so that they can make informed decisions for their projects.
I have always believed in continued learning, and have asked the same of my employees. Throughout the years, our employees, my wife and I have taken classes on all aspects of building and operating a successful business. Through venues like the JLC (Journal of Light Construction) shows, Build Boston, The International Builders Show, trips to manufacturers of products that we use and more. These types of investments in our company help our team to stay on the cutting edge of our industry, learning about new products and better ways to build. Our continued education not only helps improve our company, it allows us to provide the customer with the best service in the industry.
I believe in the team approach to building and remodeling and I am fortunate to have a great team surrounding me as we work together to meet the goals of every project.
From our experienced carpenters, to our well-qualified sub contractors, we put the best quality into all of our projects.
I have been working with my husband Bob in a variety of ways since Dockham Builders began in 1988. For many years I worked 32 hours a week at another job and continued to type quotes and contracts in the evening and on weekends. This went on for several years until falling asleep at the computer was not an option!
In 2003, we decided it would be beneficial for me to leave my job and work for Dockham Builders full time. Having someone in the office to answer the phones is a great asset and has helped to grow our company. The response has been extremely positive. People truly like having a live person answer the phone and answer their questions when they call.
It is also great to be able to meet the homeowners and to be able to put a face to the phone call. It helps for me to know the job and be able to answer questions from the homeowner should they call. I occasionally join Bob on some of his customer meetings. It has been helpful to see the jobs before they start and continue to see them as they move forward to completion. I not only love to see the transformation of our clients homes, I also love talking to people and getting to know our clients and their families.
I grew up in the building industry, spending my summers and school breaks working with my Dad. I worked my way up the ladder, doing the “grunt work” as my Dad calls it, all the way up to project manager today. I oversee every project, making sure that no detail is overlooked and that every homeowner gets exactly what they want. Being the bosses son doesn’t make it any easier, if anything it’s harder. If your handed something, you don’t appreciate it as much as you do when you have to struggle to get there. As a kid growing up, I didn’t realize why my Dad always pushed me to be better, but now as an adult with a family of my own, I get it. Hard work and determination is the key to success. My Dad, my Mom and myself have been working on Dockham Builders since my Dad started this company in 1988. We have built a reputation on the seacoast as a company you can count on and that you will recommend to your friends.
Being a part of the family business is like being surrounded by the best team imaginable. We back each other up, working together as a team to make sure that nothing is missed. Working with family can be tough at times, but everyone knows that family is who you can count on when times are tough. My whole family is intent on working together to make Dockham Builders a success. When you hire Dockham Builders, you’re not just hiring someone who can build, you are hiring a family who builds together! A family you can count on, to listen to your hopes and dreams and work with you to turn them into a reality.
Our mission: “Providing a quality product through an enjoyable process“

We don’t believe that working on your home should be an arduous process, it should be exciting and enjoyable, from our first meeting to the very last paint stroke, you won’t regret calling Dockham Builders!
